The brushes in this set are great watercolor and gauche but definitely wouldn’t use for gesso applicationMuy cómodas y suaves.Súper recomendable el producto! The brushes took a long time to arrive. They're large, medium and very small. Not exactly what I wanted and I'll do my best with them. These Langnickel brushes are awesome and great value for money. They seem to be natural hair (goat?) and extremely soft so wouldn't hold up to direct application of acrylic or oil paint. Instead, I'd say they'd be great for broad washes of watercolor or ink. The reason I purchased them however, is to apply gesso to my chosen support prior to oil painting - whether it be untreated wood or canvas. They've had quite a bit of use so far and I haven't experienced any shedding hairs at all. In fact they still look in the same great shape as the day I bought them.As they're cheap, I expected lesser quality to be honest but am really happy with my buy. They're not the finest brushes on the market, obviously, but are more than capable of laying down a couple of coats of gesso. To extend their life even further, I just wash away every last residue of gesso with soap, rinse and then allow the brush to dry horizontally so water doesn't seep in the metal ferrule. The gesso I find best by the way is liquitex basics. I started off with the pro version, but swayed by the significantly lower price, I recently switched to the basics student line instead (here: https://www.amazon.com/Liquitex-BASICS-Gesso-Surface-Medium/dp/B000KNDMLG/ ). It's actually just as good in my humble opinion.Get these brushes though! They're a steal!I'm in my early 20's and decided to get into oil painting. I've made 5 paintings with the colors included in this set (on 12x16" canvas') and the only thing extra I added was a tube of titanium white I got from Winton this try the brand out.Let me tell you, BUY YOUR OWN BRUSHES (and a fan brush for lovely effects; "#3 fan brush"if you're only going to get one). One session with the stock brushes and it's over. The Paints are vibrant and workable. The tubes are small but for the price are great to test the waters and brings a big black and white (for coating the canvas, making you're own liquid white, mixing and accents. Both very strong.I bought this 2 weeks ago not knowing how I'd feel about this. I've sunk over $200 in paints now and I'm addicted to oils. Everyone needs to start somewhere. This isn't a bad place at all; and I'd even get this to even out a big project as the colors mix very well, especially with some linseed. These shed like mad. They will not last and during the first use they were falling apart. Hairs all over my fresh canvas and stuck in gesso and paint. Had to go out and buy new brushes. Do not recommend.I bought these for applying oil paint! It’s held up really well- rinses out easily and doesn’t leave a snail trail of hair in its wake. I will say that the brush ( hair) is shorter than I wanted or expected. On the third rinse- and dry the hair started to “wave” a bit like your hair when you air dry and put in a scrunchy. But not a great deal, so far hasn’t effected the use or application of the paint!Nice big brushes for painting on large canvases. They blended very nicely and smoothly. I've created one of my best paintings yet after open heart surgery titled "Heartwaves" with these brushes. People love the painting and now I'm going to be selling canvas prints of it as well as auctioning the original since I've had such a great response. Thank you Amazon for listing such a great product and for helping me find these great quality paint brushes. [email protected] qualitè.
